The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.The Boston Blues Society keeps expanding its coverage of events and its participation in the scene. The New England Blues Summit will take place May 13, 14, and 15 at the Cape Cod Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis. The lineup includes Joe Louis Walker and Sugar Ray and the Bluetones, along with a whole bunch of great talent. If you can’t spend the entire three days, there are options for one or two days, and all sorts of deals. Speaking of the Bluetones, we wish them and all of our New England nominees great luck May 4 at the Blues Music Awards in Memphis. The band and its members have seven nominations, including Best Band, and Best Song, by keyboardist Anthony Geraci. In addition, Toni Lynn Washington, Duke Robillard, Ronnie Earl, Al Basile, and Geraci are up for best female soul artist, acoustic album, guitar, horn, and Pinetop Perkins piano player awards respectively. The BBS is still reeling from the sudden loss of our beloved Georgetown Fats, the former managing editor, blogger, and a hero to many. We donated $2,000 ($1,500įrom the BBS and another $500 collected at two shows) for a college fund set up for Riley Boutchie, his young daughter.Ī special celebration of his life is in the works for this fall, so stay tuned.
